My voice is rapidly going downhill, as it always seems to at least once a year. Teaching in a hoarse croak was interesting today.

Ironically enough, the lesson I had planned was how to complain in English about aches and pains – since the 5th & 6th graders have been learning parts of the body. The kids made up dialogs to roleplay, with complaints and subsequent advice.

My favorite advice came from one 5th grader. When his partner said “I’ve got a headache” he suggested “Don’t play with scorpions.”

Sound advice.
